The Ice Ball Debut

The date of 30th November 2019 The Ice Ball debut took place presented by Princeps Academy Director, Dusanka Narancic, Michael and Martina Burton. Supported by Freedom to Dance which welcomes everyone regardless of their associations, country or culture, World Dance Competitors Commission, Chrisanne Clover, Michetti Studio, International Dance Shoes, Anita Flavina Dance Shoes.

The inspiration behind The Ice Ball was to bring dance schools and dancers around the world together in unity, to absorb a relaxed, joyful atmosphere and environment, which provided a ostentatious ballroom and an exceptional dance floor for dancers to express and excel in their love of dance. The prestigious Chelsea Old Town Old was the charismatic and beautiful choice of venue which enabled dancers to absorb the sense of warmth and feeling of the occasion. In addition to being a fabulous venue the location set in the heart of London’s Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, on the Kings Road set a festive backdrop for a dual purpose London city, dance break. Dancers were welcomed from Europe, Asia and Australia. Of course The Ice Ball was extremely well supported by U.K dancers whom all offered tremendous feedback from the event. An incredible way to wrap up the U.K dance season and welcome in the festive season.

Dancer: Kathleen Corcoran Aubeelack review:

"What a magical event to attend and compete as part of GKDance Academy the inaugural Ice Ball 2019. In the Beautiful setting Of Chelsea Town Hall. Great for a change to be able to take part in a dance event in our home city London and a great opportunity for friends and family To attend and watch our dance progress. The event from concept to delivery was always well presented and the day was so smooth from arrival, changing, running order and information. Many fond memories. I’m looking forward To 2020 already."

As the dance competitions took place the atmosphere and energy on the floor and in the air was light everyone interacting dancing and having fun. Actually many dancers commented on the exceptional dance floor.

I am always curious to know dancers journey’s and I was totally blown away at one lady’s story. Sarah from Tel Aviv commenced her dance journey two years ago, when she was encouraged by her daughter to take a few dance lessons for her granddaughters wedding. Her teacher Pershtien was so encouraging and gave Sarah a platform to embellish the world of dance two years later and over 80 years of age Sarah chose to enter The Ice Ball competition. Sarah naturally was accompanied by her dance teacher and also her family from Tel Aviv and granddaughter from New York all made the trip to relish and support her at this joyous occasion. The whole party expressed such enthusiasm and excitement for this event and relished at the perfect location set for this momentous occasion.

The day was so well organised and it was evident that the preparation and attention to details consisted of long hours of dedication and devotion by the team.

Very special panel of Adjudicator's - Marion Welsh, Richard Gleave OBE, Janet Gleave, John Wood, Nicola Nordin, John Byrnes, Valentina Kostenko, Matthew Cutler & our Chairman Robert Bellinger all gave a great support during the day and the part took in the light hearted entertainment and raffle draw fun in the evening.

The day’s events were co-ordinated in a professional and fun manor by the event’s team Robert Bellinger - Chairman, Richard Miller and Nick Kelly

The competitions were followed by a VIP reception in the luxurious surroundings of the Chelsea Old Town Hall reception room where guests, adjudicators and organiser’s were offered light refreshments and the opportunity to reflect on the marvellous events of the day.

The showcases by Gunnar Gunnarsson and Marika Dosharis and celebration of Marika’s birthday brought The Ice Ball to a compelling finish and a town hall full of levitated dancers. Carriages at 11pm where all that attended waltzed onto The Ice Ball red carpet out to the Kings Road surrounded by flaming torches was a spectacular end to a perfect day.
